Is this rocket science or what?
Truthfully, the longer I’m in the fitness industry the more I’m starting to think that it is ….. or at least that what everyone seems to be making it into.
There are so many sources telling you that you “should” do this and “never” do that.
The problem is the “should” and “never” very well may be referring to the exact same thing!
Why does everyone have to make it so complicated?”
Fact: everyone’s formula for long term fitness and health success is going to be different based on several factors like: Genetics, Lifestyle, Personal preferences, ect.
However, there are three thing that will consistently lead you in the right direction.
Constant #1 – Your Nutrition is ALWAYS going to matter.
If you eat crappy foods often and in large quantities then you will not be able to get good results. It doesn’t get any more blunt than that.
Now notice the qualifiers: often and in large quantities. That’s not the same as never eating them.
Constant #2 – Fitness Takes Consistency and Progression
No program in the world will work if you are not consistent.
Working out 4-days this week, then no-days for 2 weeks followed by a return for a day or two only gives you occasional sore muscles and constant frustration when you don’t see or feel changes.
Consistency will always trump sporadic bouts of Beast Mode Every. Single. Time.
But showing up is only half the battle. Even with consistent workouts 5 or 6 days a week your results will be lack luster if you don’t progressively challenge your body.
Constant #3 – Long Term Habit Changes Always Win the Day
Something becomes categorized as a habit once you no longer have to consciously decide to do it, much like brushing your teeth. When was the last time you had to have a serious internal debate about doing that? It’s just something you do.
At some point, you want this healthy fit living thing to be a way of life just like brushing your teeth.
Assessing what changes you want to make and then figuring out a sustainable way to make those a part of your automatic habits is the key to making this happen.
So there you have it, the three cornerstones of any successful fat/weight loss/get fit program.
If you need help with any of it, I’m always here.
