How’d Those Cookies Get In Your Cart?

June 13, 2017 By Sarai

Do you ever come home from grocery shopping and think, “Wow, I really bought way more than I needed!”

It happens to all of us. Grocery stores LOVE for you to buy their stuff, and they don’t care if you’re trying to eat healthy.

So here are my 2 expert tips on how to stick with your healthy meals while shopping:

Walk through the isles with blinders or Hire someone to do it for you.

Ha! Okay, okay maybe those are not realistic.

Here’s what REALLY works, the tried and true:

Well Now It’s Too Late….

May 29, 2017 By Sarai

Or is it?

Maybe 6 or 8 weeks ago you had every intention of focusing a little harder and getting into tip top shape for a vacation, a photo shoot (#fierceforphotos) or other big event coming up this summer but you didn’t quite seem to pull your life as together as you had hoped.

Now you have just 14-30 days left and you’re feeling like it’s a “waste of time” to try because you aren’t going to reach those BIG original goals.

It’s sad really. The fact that people often quit because they are disappointed that they will not be able to achieve what they COULD have, instead of focusing on what they can still do.

How many days a week should I work out?

May 19, 2017 By Sarai

I get this question a lot and I wish there was a blanket answer but there just isn’t.

Almost always the answer starts with “it depends….” And then I list some factors to consider.

Because at the end of the day how much you exercise and how your body handles the training you put it through is very individual.

One thing I *do* believe in is daily movement. Now movement is not always a workout. It can be some light recovery work, a brisk walk, riding your bike or taking your rollerblades for a spin.

Or perhaps it is an actual workout but not a crushing one. On an intensity scale of 1-10 perhaps it’s a 5 or 6.

The idea is to just move! We were not created to be sedentary creatures. Our bodies are MADE to move.

Lately I’ve been speaking about how we want this fitness lifestyle to become a habit. Meaning it’s something you don’t even have to think about or decide to do, much like brushing your teeth or washing your hands.

If you reflect on the habits you have that take zero brain power what do they all have in common? You do them DAILY.

What we do daily becomes ingrained in us. It becomes weird when we *don’t* do them.

So, I have a challenge for you: [Read more…] about How many days a week should I work out?

Read This Before You Weigh Yourself

May 18, 2017 By Sarai

Ah, the scale. Could there be a non-lethal inanimate object that provokes more emotion?

In a recent conversation at boot camp I mentioned that I normally discourage frequent weighing of oneself because it usually leads to one of two reactions:

Reaction #1: You lose what you are expecting or more and you’re so happy with yourself that you get a ‘lil over confident. You start to think: “I can have a little more of “X” because I did good on the scale today.”

This sometimes turns into a slippery slope of a little extra here, and a little extra there until you’ve gained back those few pounds lost. [Read more…] about Read This Before You Weigh Yourself

3 Simple Secrets For Getting Results

May 17, 2017 By Sarai

Is this rocket science or what?

Truthfully, the longer I’m in the fitness industry the more I’m starting to think that it is ….. or at least that what everyone seems to be making it into.

There are so many sources telling you that you “should” do this and “never” do that.

The problem is the “should” and “never” very well may be referring to the exact same thing!

Why does everyone have to make it so complicated?”

Fact: everyone’s formula for long term fitness and health success is going to be different based on several factors like: Genetics, Lifestyle, Personal preferences, ect.

However, there are three thing that will consistently lead you in the right direction.

Fitness should enhance your life, not take over it. I teach women how to eat, move and think in ways that free them from the constant obsession over what to do next. When you know better, you do better. Let's do better together.
